~ Krinos Duo ~

The Krinos Duo (Krinos is the Greek word for Lily) consists of violinist Angel Marote and harpist Renske Tjoelker. Both of them are graduates of the master at the conservatory of Utrecht. Since 2008 they are playing works from various periods, such as pieces by Vivaldi, Donizetti, Saint-Saƫns and Van Delden.
The warmth of the harp and the brilliance of the violin offers many possibilities, in character and sound. Further on, you'll find some examples of their playing.

Angel Enrique Sanchez Marote started playing the violin at the age of seven. In 2002 he finished his study at the Conservatorio Superior de La Coruña. He continued his musical education sucessfully in the Netherlands. In 2004 he acquired his Bachelor of Music at the Conservatoire of Utrecht and in 2008 his Master's degree. At the moment, he frequently plays with the Rotterdam Chamber Orchestra and with Renske Tjoelker.
Renske Tjoelker has played the harp since she was nine. She studied with Erika Waardenburg at the Conservatoire of Utrecht, where she obtained the Bachelor's degree with distinction in 2005. She plays a lot of chamber music, mostly with partners with whom she has a long-time co-operation. In 2007 she obtained her Master's with distinction. She also plays regularly with orchestras, like the Residentie Orchestra The Hague and the European Union Youth Orchestra, as well as with miscellaneous choirs. (More about Renske can be found elsewhere on this site.)
